5 Reasons You Need to Vote!

Alright, I know politics aren’t everyone’s favorite thing, BUT the fact of the matter is, they affect each & every one of us. So this means, like it or not, you need to pay attention to what is going on in the world. This doesn’t mean just at a national level, it means local as well! Speaking of local, midterm elections are Tuesday! November 6th! Midterm elections happen, you guessed it, in the middle of a presidential election, ie every two years. Ballots vary from county to county across the country. You can find what is going to be on your local ballot by simply googling, “sample ballot ____ county”.…

    Next Stop, Gilead.

I’m typing this from my cell phone so bare with me. 😂. If you follow me on social media at all, you know I recently injured my foot pretty severely. I’ve been on the couch for a week but I simply could not stay quiet on the state of our country any longer. If you’re like me & you watch The Handmaid’s Tale, you’re very interested in HOW America became the dystopian society that is Gilead. I remember watching the first season & saying to friends when it would come up, “I don’t think we’re going to start farming women for babies.” Now here we are with the second season,…

    Let’s Talk About Privilege

photo via The New York Times I can’t stay quiet anymore. I can’t sit back & just talk about the news with my husband & my two friends who stay informed. I can’t ignore the issues that are facing this country I call home. I can’t ignore racism because it doesn’t affect me. I can’t even begin to rationalize a president who doesn’t take the earliest opportunity to condemn white nationalists/Nazis. Lucky you, you were born…

    United We Rock

When I heard the news of the attack in Manchester my heart sunk. As an avid concert goer the attack struck a chord with me. I felt sick to my stomach when it happened in Paris & it was just as hard with Manchester. This past Sunday my husband & I spent 3 hours of our day watching One Love Manchester live on Freeform. To say I was an emotional wreck is putting it lightly. I couldn’t stop tearing up. Every time Ariana Grande teared up, every time they showed a concert goer tearing up, when a little girl got to sing on stage with Ariana, when concert goers were…

    I’m Running For President

Well everyone, I’m running for president. When I was in 8th grade & again my senior year I was voted by my classmates “Most Likely to be President”. Both of these years were Bush election years. Growing up in the home I did I knew all of my local politicians, went to election results parties & was elated to be able to vote upon turning 18 (in August so I even got to vote in my 18th year for a President!). This is probably the only reason I was voted this by my classmates. I mean, what 8th grader is excited about a presidental election? *Raises Hand* I also attended…
