It’s the first thing you think of when you think about working from home – getting to wear your comfy clothes & not having to dress up! I’m not going to lie, it’s one of my favorite parts of working from home for sure. I could spend every day in a good t-shirt. Because of this, I have learned a few ways to take my t-shirts from casual to dressy, & ways to not look like I just rolled out of bed and have been in the same t-shirt for 3 days…cuz you know, I never do that… 🙂
My go to staple when needing to take a t-shirt up a notch is pairing it with a skirt. For me, all of my skirts just happen to be long (even if they aren’t meant to be long, I’m short so they end up that way), but you can pair a t-shirt with any length of skirt!
I really think it’s all in the shoes when you’re pairing a t-shirt with a skirt. As you can see, the difference between my flat converse dupes vs the other two pointy toed shoes. I also have no preference on front tying my t-shirt, tucking it in sleek or tucking it in baggy. I usually do a sleek tuck like in the middle picture when the t-shirt is a little more fitted on me, and a front tie like in the white t-shirt, when the shirt is bigger on me.
Another way to take your favorite t-shirt up a notch, is to wear it over a dress! I have seen this done so many ways & it always looks so stinking adorable!!! Here are some throwback pics of me in various t-shirt + dress combos!
As a bustier girl, I can say one thing I love about this option, is I can wear a dress that is maybe a tad more revealing on top, without having my ladies in everyone’s face. There’s a time & a place 😉 . Another great thing about this option, is wearing spring dresses when it’s colder outside. You can throw some leggings on underneath like I did in the last picture, & with a t-shirt on top you’re already wearing the dress warmer than if you were wearing it on its own! This is such a cute option, I’m literally going through my clothes in my head & putting together new outfit combinations as I type! This is a great way to rejuvenate your wardrobe!
Moving right along, because I could ramble about t-shirts and dresses/skirts all day, let’s bring things back down to a more casual level. You may think pairing your t-shirt with a pair of shorts is going to be boring, but girl you can change the entire MOOD with a simple front tuck! Don’t be afraid to do the front tuck! I promise no one cares about seeing your stomach as much as you do. Not here for the front tuck? You can’t go wrong with a simple tie on either side!
Okay so I literally can only find these TWO pictures of me wearing a t-shirt with jeans! I would say I’m surprised, but I do try to avoid wearing jeans at all costs. Comfort is key guys! However, I know most people don’t mind wearing jeans so I am going to include them in this post! I will say that both of these jeans are pretty comfortable for being jeans.
Last but not least, I am almost always, wearing t-shirts out into the world (before quarantine times) with a pair of jeggings/leggings/stretchy pants because like I mentioned previously, COMFORT IS KEY!!! <3
I hope you’ve been inspired to try some new looks out with your favorite t-shirts after this post! You also may be wondering what the heck is up with my hair, haha. If you’re new around here, I wear wigs! <3
Most importantly, I hope you’re all staying safe, healthy, & HOME! It’s a weird time we’re living in but if we social distance now, we will make it out together!
